Marvin Bagley
Marvin Bagley posts 18/11/3/2/1 line vs. New York
Mon, Oct 13, 2025, 4:26 PM
Marvin Bagley III recorded 18 points (7-of-8 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one blocked shot in Monday's exhibition against the Knicks.
Analysis: Monday's game was the second in as many days for the Wizards, resulting in a day off for Alex Sarr. Bagley moved into the starting lineup, and the 2018 lottery pick took advantage of his opportunity. He recorded a double-double in 24 minutes, with the final stat line only missing a three-pointer. Tristan Vukcevic (15/4/3/1 with three three-pointers) also played well, logging 17 minutes off the bench. The backup center competition is unlikely to make waves in fantasy basketball, as Sarr will play significant minutes as the starter. However, Bagley and Vukcevic boast different skill sets, making it possible for both to get their chances during the regular season, depending on the opponent.
Marvin Bagley
WAS: Marvin, Tre, Bub, Kyshawn, Justin start Mon.
Mon, Oct 13, 2025, 1:13 PM
Greg Finberg
Marvin Bagley III, Bub Carrington, Tre Johnson, Kyshawn George and Justin Champagnie will start on Monday against the Knicks.
Analysis: The Wizards will go with a new starting lineup on Monday, choosing to rest several key players on the second night of a back-to-back. This includes Alex Sarr, who had missed the start of training camp due to a calf injury. Nevertheless, Washington will bump Champagnie, Johnson, and Bagley III into the starting lineup as it looks to secure its first preseason win.
CJ McCollum
CJ McCollum posts game-high 19 points in loss
Sun, Oct 12, 2025, 12:01 PM
CJ McCollum finished Sunday's 113-112 loss to the Raptors with a game-high 19 points to go with five rebounds, two assists, a steal and five triples across 25 minutes.
Analysis: McCollum looked sharp in his Wizards debut, hitting 7-of-14 shots, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Washington started Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Khris Middleton and Bub Carrington, potentially showcasing an opening night starting five. McCollum will likely have the green light on offense, and fantasy managers can expect plenty of points and triples. The Wizards may shift in to tank mode at some point, and McCollum could emerge as a trade target, leaving his overall fantasy floor a bit questionable.
Bilal Coulibaly
Bilal Coulibaly (thumb) underwent surgery Friday
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 8:04 AM
Washington Wizards
Bilal Coulibaly (thumb) underwent surgery on Friday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Analysis: Coulibaly injured his thumb while playing for France at EuroBasket, aggravating the injury during the team's Round of 16 loss to Georgia. He only attempted three shots in that game, with the thumb likely being a factor. The Wizards did not provide a recovery timeline for Coulibaly. However, this is an injury that could cost him multiple weeks, putting his availability for the beginning of the regular season at risk. Washington ended the season starting Kyshawn George on the wing, but that was when the team was also without Khris Middleton. One of those two will likely step in if Coulibaly is not ready next month, but George will play plenty regardless of the Wizards' decision with the team in a rebuild.
Bilal Coulibaly
Bilal Coulibaly scores 12 points vs. Belgium
Thu, Aug 28, 2025, 7:14 AM
Bilal Coulibaly finished Thursday's EuroBasket victory over Belgium with 12 points (5-of-11 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), seven rebounds, one steal and two blocked shots.
Analysis: Coulibaly and France cruised to a 92-64 victory in their EuroBasket opener, with no player exceeding 23 minutes. Coulibaly logged 22 as part of France's starting lineup, and he looked healthy after his second season with the Wizards ended in March due to a hamstring injury. Last season, he experienced increases in points, rebounds, assists and steals, but efficiency remained an issue. Coulibaly shot 42.1 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from beyond the arc, limiting his fantasy value. Those areas can be issues for players on rebuilding teams, but Coulibaly's defensive potential makes him a worthwhile late-round target in standard league drafts this fall.
Anthony Gill
Report: Wizards sign Anthony Gill to one-year deal
Thu, Aug 7, 2025, 7:51 AM
Michael Scotto
HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reports the Wizards signed Anthony Gill to a one-year deal.
Analysis: Waived by the Wizards in late June, Gill will return to the franchise on a one-year deal that's likely worth the league minimum. While the veteran forward has rarely been part of the rotation during his time in Washington, he's been a valuable voice in the locker room for the rebuilding franchise. Look for Gill to take on a similar role in 2025-26.
Marcus Smart
Shams: Smart takes buyout, to sign with Lakers
Sat, Jul 19, 2025, 11:19 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Marcus Smart has agreed to a contract buyout with the Wizards and intends to sign a two-year, $11 million deal with the Lakers.
Analysis: Smart's Lakers deal will include a player option for 2026, according to Charania, which would allow him to test free agency. The 31-year-old point guard was pursued by the Lakers, Bucks and Suns once the Wizards granted him permission to explore other options. An 11-year NBA veteran, Smart spent nine years with the Celtics before spending time with the Grizzlies and Wizards over the last two seasons. Smart won the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year award and has been named to the All-Defensive first-team three times. In joining the Lakers, Smart not only is back on a contending team, but also has a clear path to significant playing time.
Marvin Bagley
Shams: Wizards sign Marvin Bagley to one-year deal
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 12:35 PM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Wizards have signed Marvin Bagley III to a one-year contract.
Analysis: Bagley began last season with the Wizards before being traded to Memphis at the February deadline. He's back in the nation's capital on a one-year deal, providing additional frontcourt depth. Bagley only averaged 8.5 minutes per game last season and may be in line for a similar role, especially as the Wizards continue to develop 2024 lottery pick Alex Sarr. Unless there are injuries throughout the season, Bagley is not a player who should be selected in most fantasy drafts.
Tristan Vukcevic
Tristan Vukcevic inks two-way deal with Wizards
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 9:56 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Wizards signed F/C Tristan Vukcevic to a two-way deal.
Analysis: Vukcevic averaged 9.4 points and 3.7 boards across 14.6 minutes per game last season with Washington. Heading into Year 3, he'll serve as Alex Sarr's top backup at center, and it wouldn't be surprising if Washington eventually converted his contract into a standard deal.
Blake Wesley
Blake Wesley being sent to Washington
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 2:08 PM
Shams Charania
Blake Wesley has been traded to the Wizards.
Analysis: Wesley was drafted with the 25th pick in 2022, just a few picks after Malaki Branham. Now, both guards will get a fresh start in Washington, though there may not be many minutes for either guard.
Malaki Branham
Shams: Malaki Branham dealt to Washington
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 2:05 PM
Shams Charania
Malaki Branham has been traded to the Wizards as part of a deal that sent Kelly Olynyk to the Spurs.
Analysis: Branham was drafted with the 20th overall pick in 2022 and has spent his first few years in San Antonio. Now, he'll get a fresh start. He averaged 10.2 points per game as a rookie, but he's seen his role decrease in the years since. He'll likely be a depth guard with upside in Washington.
Cam Whitmore
Shams: Cam Whitmore dealt to Washington for picks
Sat, Jul 5, 2025, 10:22 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Cam Whitmore has been traded to the Wizards for two second-round picks.
Analysis: The Athletic's Josh Robbins reports it will be a 2026 second rounder from Chicago and a 2029 second round from Sacramento that will be headed back to the Rockets, who needed to recoup what assets they could from the No. 20 overall pick in 2023. Whitmore showcased some scoring upside during his two seasons in Houston and will now be the latest upside swing to land with the Wizards. He'll join a rotation that features recent first-round picks like Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly and Will Riley, as well as a veteran in Khris Middleton.
Dillon Jones
Report: OKC trades Dillon Jones, pick to Wizards
Sat, Jun 28, 2025, 4:01 PM
Shams Charania
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Thunder have traded Dillon Jones and a future second-round pick to the Wizards for Colby Jones.
Analysis: The 26th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Jones is on the move after one season with the NBA champions. He appeared in 54 games during the regular season, averaging 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 10.2 minutes. Being traded to Washington may give Jones a better shot at achieving fantasy relevance than in Oklahoma City. However, that is not enough to make him a player worth selecting in fantasy drafts.
Kelly Olynyk
Kelly Olynyk traded to Wizards with McCollum
Tue, Jun 24, 2025, 9:37 AM
Shams Charania
Kelly Olynyk has been traded to the Wizards in a multi-player deal, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Analysis: Olynyk will head to Washington in a deal involving CJ McCollum, Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and picks. Washington's frontcourt features Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr, two players who the Wizards will surely prioritize developing in 2025-26. That means Olynyk could see rotational minutes off the bench or even be re-routed before the season starts. No matter what uniform he wears next season, Olynyk should have deep-league value thanks to his ability to contribute across multiple categories.
CJ McCollum
CJ McCollum dealt to Wizards in multi-player deal
Tue, Jun 24, 2025, 9:22 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that CJ McCollum has been traded to the Wizards along with Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Analysis: As Charania notes, Washington will pick up McCollum's expiring deal and position itself to have $100 million in cap space in the summer of 2026. The Wizards will now have veterans McCollum, Khris Middleton, Marcus Smart and Kelly Olynyk on the squad for next season, but it's fair to assume Washington will focus on developing young players like Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George. Still, the Wizards aren't exactly a deep team, so McCollum could see significant run in the nation's capital.
Khris Middleton
Khris Middleton picks up 2025-26 player option
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:12 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that Khris Middleton has picked up his $33.3 million player option for the 2025-26 season.
Analysis: No surprises here, as Middleton will get fully compensated for the final year of the three-year, $93 million deal he signed with Milwaukee in 2023. Given his recent injury history and declining play, Middleton's next contract will surely be far less than what he makes this season. He will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.
Colby Jones
Colby Jones tallies 20 points, 10 rebounds vs. MIA
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 9:29 AM
Colby Jones accounted for 20 points (9-of-18 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds and four assists in 42 minutes in Sunday's win over the Heat.
Analysis: Like fellow reserve Tristan Vukcevic, Jones experienced an increase in playing time due to the starter's minutes being limited. Kyshawn George (5/2/1 with one three-pointer) played 15 minutes, with Jones being the beneficiary on a day when Washington only played seven. The second-year wing recorded his first career double-double, with the stat line including a career-high 10 rebounds. While George appears to have the edge regarding 2025-26 fantasy value, Jones is worth watching during Summer League play. The move from Sacramento to Washington has resulted in him receiving more opportunities to play, which he needed.
Tristan Vukcevic
Tristan Vukcevic records 28/11/5/0/1 stat line
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 9:25 AM
Tristan Vukcevic finished Sunday's win over the Heat with 28 points (9-of-12 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and four three-pointers in 39 minutes.
Analysis: While Alexandre Sarr (10/8/4/1 with one three-pointer) remained in the starting lineup for Sunday's season finale, the rookie was limited to 16 minutes in Miami. Vukcevic played the lion's share of the minutes at the center position, and the second-year pivot was outstanding. The 28 points were a career-high for the 6-foot-10 Wizard, who scored 14 or more in five of his last six appearances. Vukcevic's fantasy value for next season is limited due to Sarr being the Wizards' post player of the future. However, Vukcevic's finish should keep the 22-year-old in the discussion for a rotation spot off the bench.
JT Thor
JT Thor (knee) downgraded to out Sunday vs. Miami
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 5:46 AM
NBA Injury Report
JT Thor (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Initially questionable for Sunday's season finale, Thor will not play. Given the length of Washington's injury report, rookie starters Alexandre Sarr and Kyshawn George may play a few minutes more than they have in recent games. Also, look for Tristan Vukcevic and Colby Jones to log heavy minutes off the bench.
Saddiq Bey
Update: Saddiq Bey (knee) out Sunday vs. Miami
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 11:39 AM
NBA Injury Report
Updating a prior blurb, Saddiq Bey (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: The Wizards mistakenly listed Bey as available for the regular-season finale on the initial injury report. He will not play against the Heat, meaning Wizards fans will have to wait until the fall to see Bey debut for the team.
